Patrol Operations and Reserve Unit

Patrol Section

The Patrol Section is responsible for crime suppression, criminal warrants, safety check details, and other general law enforcement duties. The Uniform Patrol Division is the backbone of the Lithonia Police Department and the most visible component within the community. Patrol officers are the first responders to 911 calls and enforce municipal ordinances and state laws. They also lead the department’s community policing efforts and work diligently to form partnerships with Lithonia’s residents and businesses.

Reserve Unit

The Reserve Unit is composed of a volunteer group of state mandated peace officers augmenting the full-time personnel. The unit is under the command of the Operations and Reserve Unit Commander.

Reserve Deputies are required to work a minimum of thirty (24) hours in a month to stay current. The reserves can be assigned to work in any division and many often work far more than the minimum. The dedicated women and men of the Reserve Unit receive no compensation for their work beyond the satisfaction of a job well done and appreciation of the administration and citizens of Lithonia.

Members of the Reserve Unit are required to attend meetings and training sessions where they are briefed on current law changes and procedural modifications.
